  • I read the column/ article in Design World, April 2009, by Mr. John Gyorki, Editorial Director very interesting. I have noticed a progressive increase in misrepresentation of facts, done by engineers, contractors and others. The factors are financial greed, poor understanding of the peripherial issues and implications in the presentation of 'facts'. Drivers for people are instant gratification - get the job done, make money and on to the next item/project. Since accountability and consequences are generally and rarely enforced by managers, owners and even the prosecutors. For the liar the cost-benefit is very low, and fraud does pay very well for them. When honest individuals see this and are ignored, they throw their hands up, and the cycle continues. When was the last time we saw a systematic cleaning of companies or institutions of such people. Most of the time the expulsions and firing are cosmetic. If every one was doing their job, we would not be having this problem in the business and financial sectors - over a trillion dollars of losses!
