This webinar will cover the aspects of a wind-farm project that affects energy loss and project costs, items such as conductors, transformers, and costs associated with them. The presentation will also provide a brief overview of the various cable constructions used on a typical Wind Farm with a focus on the MV power cable of choice used for the collector system.

The important design features of the typical 35kV power cable as well as a brief comparison of the insulation types and their associated dielectric loses will be reviewed. The benefits of using TRXLPE insulation and Crosslinked Polyethylene (XLPE) as jacket material will then be presented in details.

Attendees will learn:

-  A basic understanding of the factors engineers must consider to reduce energy losses in a wind farm, and why the losses don’t always outweigh the costs of making additional design changes necessary to achieve 2% losses, a common industry benchmark

-  The principles discussed during the presentation will be directly applied to a case study considering a typical medium voltage wind farm construction and an equivalent construction with a crosslinked polyethylene jacket
