I program in LabVIEW most days and have used LabVIEW for around 18 years. I mainly working on embedded systems on our CompactRIO platform for datalogging and control. Working on electrical power quality measurement for smart grid applications…"

  • Thanks for the feedback Ian.  This is in reply to my question (to which your replied).  Thanks.

  • Hey Ian,

Labview is my favorite programming software of all time.  Haven't used it for about 8 years, but the things that I could do (biosensors world), and the software that it my experiences with it inspired ... wow, good stuff.  Are you related at all to LabView?

    Quick question --

NI is clearly involved in complicated and drawn out (but hopefully not too long) sales and installations.  Specification.  Design.  Project management.  Back and Forth with Partners/Suppliers and Clients.  (is this close enough to true?).  Are you involved in this, or is it more of an Apps & Sales Engineer's job?

I'm interested in finding out good fits for my company's product -- collaboration software for 3D/non-3D engineering projects.  We know there are some more obvious paths, and I'm polling some different industries and applications to see if there is a good solution in place already (and I'm therefore barking up the wrong tree).

What do you find is a typical way to collaborate on engineering projects with so many diverse people involved?  I can't imaging it's a sophisticated PLM system, but could believe that an FTP/online storage and a bunch of emails might be providing a solution.

    Thanks for your consideration,

    Scott
